Little Miss Curious-Guest Dessigner Scraps of Elegance

Here is the last layout I did for Scraps of Elegance for July as Guest Designer.

This is my oldest grandaughter Lilly the day of my wedding peeking through the window into the room beside mine. This was actually her room but we were waiting for it to be cleaned. I loved the venue an old haunted Inn called Inn at The Falls in Bracebridge. Lilly was one of my flower girls. I used the both Bo Bunny and Pink Paislee papers for this layout.
I wanted to use up more of the gorgeous embellishments that came with this kit one of them being this lovely teal ribbon. Teal and purple were the colors for my wedding and I loved that it matched Lilly's dress. The large beige flower is from Prima (in the kit) and the blue one is Petaloo. Of course the little one is mine :)
The resin doors from Prima were also in the embellishment kit. I wanted them to look old to match the doors in the picture so I sprayed them with gold Shimmer Spritz and then when dried I added a coat of gloss to prevent any gold flakes from coming off.

This resin piece came from my stash. I colored it using my Tim Holtz markers.

I used a Prima mask and some modelling paste to add one of the flowers on the bottom and one on top. Then I used a Tim Holtz marker and my water pen and spread it around trying to bring out different shades of the teal color. Beside it I pencilled in the same image just smaller and cut it out of the paper so the patterned paper underneath would show through. I did the same on top.
I rolled my paper down and added some roses from the kit. They were white but I used the Vibez mist from the kit to turn them pink. The brad came from Bo Bunny brads in the main kit. I found a piece of teal lace that I loved and tucked it behind the flowers and added a piece of Dusty Attic (Swirly Vines #3 DA0751) for an extra flourish.
I added the birdhouse from my stash (DA Birdhouse DA0699)  and two small flowers the crochet one with the Bo Bunny brad is from the kit the other one is a little one I made. Well that's it for today. Sorry it's been so quiet here  we've had a run of bad luck the worst being a Tornado that hit us last Friday. We had a neighbor's tree come done and bounce off my roof before it landed in my yard taking out my gardens I worked ten years to build up. :( But after touring the town I know that we were very fortunate in that many people lost so much more and my heart goes out to them! Also have Lilly this week so it's been pretty hectic! My hat goes off to all you ladies who can scrap with young children around! lol All the best and be well! :)

Love is-SCRAPS OF ELEGANCE GD

It's been great fun working with the papers from the July Kit Home Sweet Home from Scraps of Elegance. The next layout I did was one that is going into an engagement album for one of my daughter's friends who is getting married this September. I love the color palette of Pink Paislee's cottage Farms!
Meet Kelly and Dave soon to be married. They had a professional  photo shoot done to commemorate their engagement and I have the pleasure of scrapping the pics!
This flower cluster includes the beautiful Prima flower from the kit as well as a few hand made flowers  made with paper from the kit. The small roses are also from the kit. The leaves are from my Dusty Attic stash as is the chipboard hearts that I painted with Tim Holtz crackle paint in Fired Brick and Antique Linen.

I used the TextureZ that came with the kit to make this brick wall. I didn't use a stencil as the bricks on my stencil were large and I wanted to match the brick wall in the picture so I took my Dusty Attic Brick Wall Chipboard, punched out all the bricks and put them back in the package and used the remaining piece of chipboard frame as a stencil. It was messy and the wall isn't perfect but what brick wall is? The butterfly is Dusty Attic Flutterbies #3.
For the title I used a sentiment which was rather long and required many letters. I couldn't find any in my stash that met my needs so I took the packaging from the Pink Paislee Burlap Flowers (light pink checkered pattern) and cut all the letters by hand. When I placed them on my layout I realized that they were in fact too pale so I painted them with Fired brick crackle paint from Tim Holtz which gave me the worn look I wanted. To bring them out just a bit more I sprayed them with Shimmer Spritz in Gold. You can also see that I backed my picture with the cheesecloth that came in the kit sprayed with the Shimmerz paint that also came in the kit. I used one of the Cottage Farms Photo Frames (from the kit) and laid it over my picture to bring the focus more onto the couple. And a little hand stitching along the side and bottom just to break up the red on the page.
This is a close-up of some of the Dusty Attic pieces I used. The tall one is Flower Buds DA0849 and the medium and small one are from Grass Cluster #1 DA0660 (one of my favs). I made the flower with paper from the kit and added a Bo Bunny brad from the kit. You can again see how I used the cheesecloth as a backing for my picture for added texture.
The fence is from Dusty Attic, Wrought Iron Fence DA0176, which I colored using my Tim Holtz markers in about four different colors. I love my markers as they blend so well with a water pen! Above the fence is a gorgeous rubon from Pink Paislee's Cottage Farm collection also included in the kit! This kit is most definitely stocked full of all kinds of goodness! :) I will be making yet another page from this kit as there are still so many goodies left to use! Stay tuned! Have a terrific weekend and all the best!

July Guest Designer for Scraps of Elegance

I am beyond thrilled to announce that I am this months Guest Designer at Scraps of Elegance! The July kit is called Home Sweet Home and is packed full of beautiful goodies from Bo Bunny, Pink Paislee, Prima and more and here it is. . .

My first project was the sketch done by Suepup and it was so fun to work with!
I knew as soon as I saw the name of the kit and the sketch that I had the perfect picture.
My Girls! When you have five daughters it is often difficult to get them all home at the same time. This photo was taken on Father's Day 2011. My five girls and three grandaughters! (We now have a boy on the way!)
I fell in love with the blue paper from Bo Bunny called Prairie Chic Dot (right side of layout) and it set the pallette of the layout. The kit came with a beautiful circle chippie from Gina's Designs which I first primed with white and then tried to match the flowers to inks and markers I had.
I used my Tim Holtz markers to color these I love that you just need to add some ink and use a water brush for the water color effect. Tried to keep with the blue, pink and green of the papers I used.
I sprayed the cheesecloth that came in the kit with the Shimmer paint Pop Art Pink that came in the Colour Add On. I then backed the chippie with the cheesecloth to add some texture behind my picture.
Many of my flowers (all the bigger ones) were made using paper from the kit! I also used the TextureZ (Tidy Widy) that came in the Colour Add On and did at bit of masking along the side of the page. I went back over it with a Mica powder but didn't like the results so I gently inked it with Moss Green which matched the papers.
Colour Add On
Although the kit came with bling I didn't have enough room to use it on this layout so I took a samll one from my stash and inked it with a Pink marker. Sorry for the shadow in the corner :) Again all the larger flowers I made and the smaller ones came with the kit. The kit came with a gorgeous flower add-on as well I just didn't use them in this layout.
Flower Add On
Stunning aren't they?
I sprayed the Crochet Flower (included in the kit) with the Shimmerz Paint and added it to the cute little envelopes that came with the embellishment kit. I did a bit of journaling on the Keepsake slip noting each girls name and the age they were at the time of the photo.
Embellishment Add On
The chippie came with some additional flowers so I inked them and added a dab of liquid pearls (embellishment kit) and blue bling to the centre of the flowers and randomly spread them across the top of the page.
This gorgeous butterfly was also included in the kit and was made by Renea Bouquets. Her butterflies are gorgeous and come with every kit!
Another close-up.
I like that not only do you get two of each paper in the kit but that you can but additional papers
plus you can but a co-ordinating paper pack
and you have the option to buy the matching cardstock so you don't have to stand there trying to find the right color or have to go out and buy it
I love these kits! You could probably make an entire 12 by 12 album with the kits and the add ons. I look forward to making more pages with this kit so stay tuned!
It is as hot as an oven outside so what better than a nice cold glass of lemonade and scrapping away! Have a terrific weekend and I will see you very soon! :)
All the best!
